Word has it that being a "high need baby" is a sign of intelligence...looks about right. Posted by Hello

Yup, it's Saturday...

And could the weather be any yuckier? Monica, Grammy and I just got back from shopping and Monica is enjoying a much needed little snooze. Why is it that she only snoozes when Grampa is going to be taking care of her? I tell ya, someone upstairs really likes Grampa. The most important thing though is that she get s a bit of rest. She sleeps great at night, but during the day she tires herself out so much. One day she will regret not taking those naps when she had the chance.

So, I'm just getting ready to go sing at mass. I'm really enjoying being back with the group. I've missed it and look forward to doing some recording in the summer. We're going to record 2 of my original tunes, as well as 2 of Lynette's. Then, I think we plan to do a cover tune or 2. It will be a nice keepsake.

Well, I better get off of here and get my stuff in order. I wonder if I can keep up the pace of updating this page everyday. I give it a week until the novelty wears off.

Mum-mum and Monica Posted by Hello

Happy Friday!

Well, everyday is about the same for us, but Friday is always a little more exciting.

We don't have any big plans for today. I'm thinking of heading out to 'The Bay' to find some sort of bigger scarf or cloth, of some sort, to cover up the second window in the basement. Monica gets up with the rising of the sun and, since I consider it way too early to get up at 5:00am, I'm gonna have to get sneaky and cover up the sun. You know, if I knew she would have even one nap during the day, I wouldn't be such a stickler for not getting up before 6:30, preferably 7:00am.

Our appointment with the O.T. went well yesterday. We're expected to be in treatment for around 3 months. That's the goal for now. There is no guarantee that any of this will help, but it's worth a shot. If anyone is wondering just what a "high need baby" is here's a link;

Basically, they are very demanding and sensitive babies. However, that is such a vague explanation. You have to live it to really appreciate the demand. I can't even find the proper words to sufficiently describe it. Let's just say she is contantly in high gear, which forces me to be constantly running on high. Like I said, unless you experience it yourself, you can't begin to understand.

So, Monica is starting to get a bit agitated here, which means my time is about up. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Who knows? Maybe I'll post again.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Monica's baptism April 10, 2005 Posted by Hello

Let's see...

So, I'm now venturing into the world of blogging. Yippee!! Monica is sitting beside me playing with her blocks, so the count is on for how long she will give me to sit here and type.

We have a somewhat busy day ahead of us today. We head off to the Regina General Hospital in a few minutes for appointment number 2 with our Occupational Therapist. Monica has been diagnosed as a "high need/sensory defensive baby", so we're attempting to find a way to help her out. Basically, she is a very stressed baby who is finding it very difficult to settle in her new world. What is the possible cause of this, well, there are a few theories. My stressful pregnancy which, no doubt, affected Monica while still in the womb. Her stressful birth and stay in N.I.C.U.. Her bout with seizures while in N.I.C.U., and the fact that she has been in a very stressful situation from the very beginning. That and the fact that she has a mother with the middle name "stressed", this all helps out with developing that trait for her....

Well, Monica says I gotta go, so I gotta go. I'll finish this later...not sure when, but later!
